Welcome Aboard Beautiful Soul,
Pull up a seat (preferably 1st class) and allow me to pour you something cozy—because today, I’m spilling the tea on the real story behind how I became a flight attendant. Spoiler alert: it was never part of the plan, and yet here I am, 9 years later, reflecting on a wild ride that’s been equal parts ridiculous and transformational.
✈️ I Never Meant to Fly… But the Universe Had Other Plans
It started at a hometown BBQ (as all good plot twists do). I had just finished writing my book The Men We Meet, was craving change, and had no idea what was next. Two women at the party—flight attendants—insisted I apply. I laughed. “I’m 47,” I said. “Aren’t I too old?”
Apparently not.
A thrown-together resume, a dating-profile-style cover letter, and a video interview later… I found myself in Houston, training to become a flight attendant. Unpaid, unsure, and completely out of my element—but also deeply guided by my gut.
🌟 The Signs Were Everywhere
Before I even applied, I met a pilot in the most random, movie-scene kind of way. He pulled me out of bar drama (literally) and became one of the most unexpectedly beautiful relationships of my life. That night? A sign.
I didn’t know it then, but the airline industry was chasing me—and it wasn’t about pretzels and beverage carts. It was about purpose, soul connections, and transformation.
💫 From Poly-Blend Uniforms to Soul-Aligned Truth
Flight attending wasn’t glamorous. The pay was low, the schedule wild, and the uniforms—don’t get me started. I went from being voted “Best Dressed” in high school to rocking itchy navy polyester.
But in between the jet lag and layovers, I met soul sisters and brothers who changed my life. I danced under fireworks in Sydney. I reconnected with parts of myself that had been dormant for years.
This job, though messy, cracked me wide open.
🧭 Reclaiming My Identity Midair
For a while, I defaulted to saying “I’m a flight attendant” at parties—because people love that answer. But it started to feel off.
That’s not the core of who I am.
I’m a writer. A teacher. A guide for transformation and authenticity. A woman on a mission to help others stop living by default and start flying by design.
And the moment I started owning that? Everything shifted.
😂 The Wild Questions I Get Asked
Let’s have some fun: here are a few of the frequent (and slightly outrageous) things people ask me:
“Are you in the Mile High Club?” No. Hard pass. Toilets are gross.
“Can you get me free flights?” No. That’s not how this works.
“Do you know my friend who flies for Delta?” Probably not… but if I do? Instant soul sister moment.
✨ The Real Takeaway
This job taught me how to:
Trust my gut—even when it made no sense
Say yes to things that stretched me
Let go of identities that weren’t aligned
Keep showing up, even when I was bloated, tired, and over it
Was it always glamorous? Nope. Was it always worth it? Moslty
Because now I’m clearer than ever: my purpose is to inspire transformation, guide people back to their truth, and remind you—yes, you—that life’s detours often lead to your destiny.
🧳 Tea-Time Reflections
Before you go, take a moment to reflect:
What role are you playing that doesn’t fit anymore?
What signs has the universe sent your way that you’ve ignored?
What would it feel like to trust your gut and leap, even when you’re scared?
